The musical has been a smash hit on Broadway since its opening in 2011 at the Eugene O’Neill Theatre. The musical received nine Tony Awards, the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical; five Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album; four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Musical, and the Drama League Award for Best Musical.
The Book of Mormon, the religious satire musical is written by Trey Parker, Matt Stone (the creators and writers of South Park), and Robert Lopez (Avenue Q), directed by Trey Parker & Casey Nicholaw, Choreography by Casey Nicholaw, Scenic Design by Scott Pask and Costume Design by Ann Ro Roth, lighting design by Brian MacDevitt and sound design by Brian Ronan. Orchestrations are by Larry Hochman and Stephen Oremus. Music direction and vocal arrangements are by Stephen Oremus.
The Book of Mormon musical tells the life of young Mormon Missionaries on their rite of passage of a mission to Uganda, a country of turmoil, fear and Poverty. The Mormons were sent to bring the Ugandan people to the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
This is the first time the Book of Mormon enters Fox Cities Performing Arts Center in Appleton, WI. The musical will highlight the centers 2014-15 season featuring songs like Two By Two, I Am Here For You, All American Prophet, Sal Tlay Ka Siti, Making Things Up Again, Spooky Mormon Hell Dream, Joseph Smith American Moses and Tomorrow Is a Latter Day Saints.
