The Book of Mormon made its arrival in 2013 at the Fisher Theater of Detroit and now the musical is returning to the city at the Detroit Opera House in 2014 season.
The Book of Mormon made its debut on Broadway at Eugene O’ Neill Theatre in 2011 and won nine Tony Awards Best Musical, Best Score, Best Book, Best Direction, Best Featured Actress, Best Scenic Design, Best Lighting Design, Best Sound Design and Best Orchestrations.
The musical also won the New York Drama Critics Circle Award for Best Musical; five Drama Desk Awards including Best Musical, the 2011 Grammy Award for Best Musical Theater Album; four Outer Critics Circle Awards, including Best Musical, and the Drama League Award for Best Musical.
The Book of Mormon tells the story of two young Mormons. The Mormons were sent to a village in Uganda. They were surprised that the local people was threatened and controlled by a warlord. Then the two missionaries try to share the Book of Mormon, one of their scriptures with the people, which only one of them knows it well enough. But the people were feared about war, famine poverty and AIDS. Finally the duo must battle their own beliefs in order to succeed and make a change in the life of the local people.
Two By Two, I Am Here For You, All American Prophet, Sal Tlay Ka Siti, Making Things Up Again, Spooky Mormon Hell Dream, Joseph Smith American Moses and Tomorrow Is a Latter Day are the wonderful scores of the musical.
